Moong Dal & Paneer Chilla (Quick, Nutritious & Baby-Approved!)

As parents, we’re always hunting for meals that are healthy, quick, and baby-friendly—something our little ones will actually eat without a battle. In this first part of the minimiles Healthy Recipes series, I’m sharing one of our absolute favorites: a Moong Dal & Paneer Chilla.

It’s simple, protein-packed, and perfect for toddlers who are beginning to explore new textures and flavours.

Why Moong Dal for Kids?

Moong dal is one of the easiest dals for small tummies to digest.
It helps with:

  • Gentle digestion
  • High protein intake
  • Energy boost
  • Easy flavour pairing (you can mix veggies, ghee, spices!)

And when you add fresh paneer, it becomes a wholesome meal packed with calcium + healthy fats.

🥣 What You Need (Baby-Friendly Ingredients)

Ingredients (1–2 servings)

  • 3 tbsp moong dal
  • 3-4 small cubes of fresh paneer
  • ½ tsp ghee
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • Water as required

Skip salt if your child is under 1 year. For 1.5-year-olds, use just a tiny pinch.

👩‍🍳 How to Make – Step-by-Step

  1. wash the moong dal 3–4 times.
  2. Soak it overnight or for 4-5 hrs.
  3. Add dal, , turmeric, and water to a mixer and make a paste of it(can add veggies if you want).
  4. take a tawa or pan ,brush some ghee and make small chilla.
  5. put some grated paneer and coriander leaves on top.
  6. cook it from both sides.
  7. serve with homemade chutney or sauce.

Your healthy, protein-rich chilla is ready!

👶 Age Suitability

  • 1–2 years → Keep small paneer cubes for texture
  • 2+ years → Add mild spices like jeera, garlic, or pepper

📝 MiniMiles Tips

  • Add a spoon of curd on the side for gut health.
  • Use homemade paneer for best texture.
  • If your child refuses veggies, finely grate and mix them in—works every time!
  • Make a larger batch and store a portion for dinner.
